Harold Ray Pitchford, age 84, of Waverly passed away early Saturday January 21, 2017 at his son’s residence in Jacksonville.
He was born December 22, 1932 in Waverly the son of the late Delbert and Ola B. Hart Pitchford. He married Verna Dorwart on January 18, 1953 in Waverly, and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2000.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Sue Lipp (Fred) of Riverton; one son, Mark Pitchford of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Candace McDannald (Lucas), Charlotte Lipp and Sam Lipp; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Ian McDannald two sisters, Loraine Manship (Fred) of Auburn and Wilma Knapp (Bill) of Meredosia; one brother, Raymond Pitchford (Lois) of Waverly, Il.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Nelson
Mr. Pitchford served in the United States Army and was employed by the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville for many years, retiring in 1998.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Waverly East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Waverly Rescue Squad. Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
