~~June Martin, age 99 of Roodhouse died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 22, 1918 in Astoria, the daughter of E.C. and Della Markley Mummert. She married William A. “Bill” Martin June 12, 1938 in Mount Sterling and he preceded her in death January 19, 1997.
She is survived by two sons, William J. (Grace Ann) Martin of Jacksonville, Thomas (Melissa) Martin of Roodhouse, a daughter, Dixie (Lyndell) Winters of Roodhouse, five grandchildren, Cathy (Danny) Albrecht, William R. (Robin) Martin, Deborah (Mark) Hopper, James A. (Krista) Martin, Jeffery L. (Susan) Winters, twelve great grandchildren, three great –great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, Nick Giberson, Curt Giberson, Christy Dossett, and six step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and Marshall Mummert, and four sisters, Hazel Shields, Corda Wilson, Holly Wilson, and Leola Pegg.
June and her husband owned and operated Martin Pontiac, International Harvester, and Martin Lanes in Roodhouse for many years. She loved bowling and playing bridge, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Christ Methodist Church in White Hall.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial to follow in Fernwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fernwood Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.airsman-hires.com
