Donald R. Eckhoff, 80, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville. He was born March 16, 1937, in Streator, the son of Carl Fred and Ethel Holtman Eckhoff. Donald married Lois A. Komnick on November 29, 1964, in Jacksonville, and she survives.
Donald is survived by two children, Kevin R. (fiancé, Michelle McNeely) Eckhoff of Jacksonville and Karrie A. (husband, Dave) Leenerts of Clayton, and one brother, Dale Eckhoff of Peoria. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mardelle Krusie.
Donald was an operator at the Central Illinois Public Service Company (CIPS) in Meredosia. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed listening to St. Louis Cardinals baseball and talking books. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and father.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery near New Berlin. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to The Lutheran Hour or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
