Obituary of Emert Johnisee

Emert Franklin Johnisee, age 98 of Roodhouse, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the home of his daughter in Hillview. He was born July 8, 1918 in Eldred, the son of Ralph Emert and Lelia Mae Bushnell Johnisee. He married Mary Alice Varble October 30, 1938 at Elsberry, Missouri, and she preceded him in death December 12, 2005.

He is survived by a son, Terry (wife Elaine) Johnisee of Roodhouse, two daughters, Barbara Jenkins of Houston, Texas, and Cathy (husband Robert) Douglas of Hillview, 15 grandchildren, Lea Ann Carroll, Scott Jenkins, Todd Tupper, Jeff Tupper, Kim Henson, Tim Tupper, Amy Teck, Amber Douglas, Amanda Douglas, Troy Johnisee, Danny Johnisee, Pam Anslyn, Larry Johnisee, Jr., Randy Johnisee, and Rodney Johnisee, 34 great grandchildren, and 11 great- great grandchildren. Emert was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Johnisee and Larry “Butch” Johnisee, and a sister, Mary Tupper. Two brothers, Clyde Johnisee and Irving Johnisee, and two sisters, Katherine Shaw, and Berniece Ruyle also preceded him in death.

Emert worked as a farmer for many years in the Eldred and Roodhouse areas. He then worked at the Roodhouse Envelope Company until his retirement. He served on the Greene County Fair Board for a number of years and had been a 4-H leader. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roodhouse where he had served as a Deacon.

Following cremation, the family will have private memorial services with burial of the cremains in Bushnell Cemetery north of Eldred. Memorial donations are suggested to the family, and may be directed through the funeral home. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse is in charge of arrangements.
