Obituary of Alfred Ruyle

Alfred (Red) Daniel Ruyle, age 87 or Roodhouse died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born September 22, 1928 in St. Louis, the son of Cloyd B. and Theresa Dolan Ruyle. He married Geneva Larimore July 27, 1958 in Murrayville and she preceded in death October 10, 2001

Also surviving is one daughter Annie Ruyle -Chaffin of Roodhouse, one granddaughter Laramie Chaffin of Roodhouse, and one sister Mary Lou Bell of Roodhouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, JoAnn Ruyle.

Alfred graduated from Roodhouse High School, then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Arkansas State University where he played football on a full scholarship. He served in the Marines during the Korean War and played football for the Marines. He farmed and raised Angus cattle in the Roodhouse area for many years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in White Hall, American Angus Association, Illinois Beef Association, and Illinois Angus Association. He enjoyed attending his granddaughters activities especially cattle shows.

Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in White Hall with burial to follow in Fernwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Airsman- Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Laramie Chaffin Education Fund.
