Obituary of Margaret Redfield

Margaret “Peggy” Wolfe Redfield, 82, of Mill Valley, California, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at her home.

She was born, May 27, 1934, in White Hall, Illinois, the only daughter of William H. and Jean E. Wolfe. of Roodhouse, Illinois. She graduated from Roodhouse High School and from Lawrence College, Wisconsin, after which she spent a year in France on a Rotary Fellowship. She married Charles M. Redfield on October 19, 1957, at the Baptist Church of Roodhouse.

She is survived by her husband, Charles, her sons Marc Wolfe Redfield (Molly Ierulli) of Providece, Rhode Island and Claremont, California; Thomas FitzMaurice Redfield of Trondheim, Norway; and Peter William Redfield (Silvia Tomásková) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and her granddaughters Zoë Sofia Tomásková Redfield and Caroline Redfield. She was preceded in death by her parents.

While they were bringing up their children, she and her husband lived in Dobbs Ferry, New York; the towns of Dübendorf and Orselina in Switzerland; Seattle, Washington; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The family moved to Mill Valley in 1976.

She was a long time active member of the congregation of the Church of Our Savior in Mill Valley, and held the position of Church Secretary from the mid-1980s to 1999. After her children were grown, she devoted much of her life to charitable work, in which she took joy.
