Obituary of Myron King

Myron Thayne “Ike” King, 90, of Osage Beach, MO and formerly of Jacksonville and Scottville passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. He was born June 20, 1926 in Athensville the son of Myrvan and Mabel Walkington King. He married Lucille Hurley Stowe on January 31, 1969 in Athensville and she survives.

He is also survived by one son, Larry (wife, Cindy) King of Scottville; one step-son, Mark (wife, Sheila) Stowe of Osage Beach, MO; two grandchildren, Tricia (husband, David) Pence of Franklin and Steve (wife, Vicki) King of Jacksonville; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Buell King and Wayne King and two sisters, Opal Edwards and Eileen Fleming.

Mr. King owned and operated King’s Red & White Grocery Store in Scottville for 25 years. He served as Mayor and Alderman of Scottville and also Township Clerk for Scottville Township. He served in the United States Army and was one of the founding members of the Northwestern Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Athensville Baptist Church and the Scottville Masonic Lodge #426. He bowled on a league for 25 years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Rams fan.

A private graveside will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Greenfield. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. Memorials are suggested to Athensville Baptist Church. Condolences may be left online at
