Obituary of Jocelyn Denison

Jocelyn Denison, 82, of Pittsfield, died Friday, January 20, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was born January 23, 1934, in her parent’s home in Griggsville. Jocelyn was the daughter of J.O. and Eda Bickerdike. She married James (Jim) Denison on May 4th, 1952, in Harrisonville, Arkansas, and he survives.

Jocelyn graduated from Griggsville High School in 1952. She was a homemaker and an amazing mother to three children. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, the Ladies Bridge Club, and the Old Orchard Country Club. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and very much enjoyed crocheting and doing puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (Chris) Denison of Griggsville, & Matt Denison of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Tiphani (Matt) Gregory of Florence, Jaime (Reginald) Liehr of Perry, Adam Denison of Chicago, & Courtney (Eric) Walz of Sycamore; four great grandchildren, Isaiah and Isabella Gregory, Lance and Regan Liehr, and many loving nieces and nephews. Jocelyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia K Denison, a brother, JC Bickerdike, and her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, January 23, at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Griggsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10am – 12pm at the church prior to the service. Memorial Donations are suggested to the Pittsfield United Methodist Church or the Alzheimers Association.
