Obituary of Mary Brockhouse

Mary Louise Brockhouse, 87, of Chapin entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, March 31, 2017 at Knollwood Retirement Village in Jacksonville. She was born December 29, 1929 in Concord the daughter of Frances A. Gaddis. She married Loren L. Brockhouse on November 25, 1950 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Chapin and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1993.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Wes) Hendricker of Arenzville and Larry “Brocky” ( Ann) Brockhouse of Jacksonville; 6 grandchildren, Josh (Jen) Hendricker, Amy (Chris) Coats, Tara (Lonn) Brown, Kayla (Korey) Grinkey, Cody Nergenah and Alaina Brockhouse; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alex Hendricker, Marin, Eve and Lorelei Coats, Seger and Sienna Brown, Taggert and Tucker Grinkey and Carson Nergenah. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Trudy Nergenah (surviving husband, Chris of Chapin).

Mrs. Brockhouse graduated from Chapin High School in 1948. She lived most of her life in rural Chapin and worked at Chapin State Bank for 42 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Arenzville. She loved spending time with her family and friends and cherished the relationships she developed while at Knollwood Retirement Village. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Arenzville with interment at Concord Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or Memorial Home Hospice Sharing Wishes.
