Obituary of Arthur Hallock
Arthur C. Hallock, age 87 of Hillview, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born January 11, 1930 in Arthur, IL., the son of Thomas and Mae Schriner Hallock.
He is survived by a daughter, Loretta A. (husband Russell) Foiles of Hillview, three sons, Donald C. (wife Netherine) Hallock of Hillview, David A. (wife Linda) Hallock of White Hall, and Mark W. (wife Christy) Hallock of Roodhouse. There are eight grandchildren, Austin Hallock, Mick Hallock, David Benton, Blaise Hallock, Branden Sutton, Kyli Foiles, Jake Foiles, and Kaitlyn Foiles. He also has a great grandson, Oliver Hallock, and is survived by his former wife, Barbara Hallock.. Arthur was preceded in death by a sister, Maurine Goeddy, and two brothers, Max Hallock, and Wayne Hallock.
Arthur served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was an expert marksman and was a communications wiredog. Art worked at the Jacksonville Developmental Center, retiring after 20 years service. He also farmed his entire life, in the Hillview bottoms, and on his farm in Missouri. He loved to tell stories, mostly about his kids. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and mushrooming. He also enjoyed flying his Cessna 140 airplane. He was a member of the Bryant-Thomas American Legion Post in Hillview, and a member of the First Christian Church of White Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the White Hall First Christian Church with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery at Patterson. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Memorials are suggested to the Hillview American Legion or the White Hall First Christian Church.
