Obituary of Dixie Berry
Dixie Lee Berry, 68 of Perry, went to be with the Lord April 9, 2017 peacefully at home. Dixie was born August 20, 1948, in Pittsfield, Il, the daughter of Robert and Glenna Cooley Baldwin. She married Bradley Berry in Kirksville, Missouri on April 21, 1979, and he survives.
Also surviving are her daughter Whitney (Doug) Hoffer of Quincy, grandson Lucas Lee Hoffer whom she adored, sister Pat Bennett of Florida, 3 nephews, Mike (Joyce) Bennett of Rural Perry, Mark (Jennifer) Bennett of Meredosia, and Murray (Diane) Bennett of Texas, 3 nieces, Vickie (Steve) Tharp of Pittsfield, Cindy (Brent) Reel of Arizona, and Holly Baldwin of Perry, and close friend Karen (Harley) Garrett of Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Donavan (Butch) Baldwin.
Dixie Lee graduated from Perry High School in June, 1966. After graduation she went to the United Airlines School and worked at Chicago O’Hare for several years. She then returned to Pike County and started working at the Farmers State Bank. In 1982 she opened the Perry branch of Farmers and Traders Bank (Prairie State Bank) which she managed until January 2016.
Dixie attended Fishhook United Brethern Church and enjoyed praising Our Father with all her church family. She loved children and teaching Sunday school. She lead vacation bible school for many years and loved every minute of it.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 13th at the Fishhook United Brethern Church with Pastor Mark Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service that morning at the church. Memorials are suggested to Children’s ministry at the Fishhook United Brethern Church.
