Obituary of Doris Reno

Doris Faye (Staats) Reno passed away at the age of 91 at 6:50 AM on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 9, 1926, south of Hillview, the daughter of Otis McKinley and Anna Rosetta (Willis) Staats. She married Clyde J. Reno in Palmyra, Missouri, on September 25, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 2010.

Doris is survived by two children: Terry (Karl) Kruckeberg of White Hall, and Jerry (Sue) Reno of Roodhouse; four grandchildren: Chad (Cindy) Reno of Villa Grove, Chanda (Shawn) Kuhlmann of Springfield, Alex (Cassandra) Kruckeberg of Jacksonville, and Cade (Allyson) Reno of White Hall; two step-grandchildren: Jon (Julie) Burton of Omaha, and Josh (Kari) Burton of Roodhouse; five great grandchildren: Mady and Sam Reno, Jillian Sims, Jackson Kuhlmann, and Annabel Kruckeberg; three step-great grandchildren: Makayla, Kaitlyn, and Megan Burton; and two step-great grandchildren, Lilly and Leona.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrel Staats of Hillview and Gib Staats of Alton, and one sister, Audrey Meado of Hillview; one granddaughter, Jennifer Jo Reno; and one step-great granddaughter, Halli Burton.

Doris attended elementary school at Lake View and McWilliams schools in the Illinois River Bottom. She graduated from Hillview High School in 1942 and White Hall High School in 1943. After her marriage, Doris was a farm wife, taking an active part in the farm work. She also worked for many years and retired from Twin Cities Manufacturing Company in White Hall. She became a member of the Hillview Baptist Church in her youth and later was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of White Hall.

Later in life, she developed close friendships with several people who were important in her life: Libby Ballard, Marian Edwards, and especially Brenda VanMeter. Her family would like to thank Rob, Mona and Brennan McMillen; Pastor Dan Edwards, Brenda VanMeter; Pastor Gary Coates; Crystal VanMeter; and Ashley Hanson and the entire nursing home staff for their devotion and loving care during her final days.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial to follow in Pine Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pine Tree Cemetery or Halli Burton Scholarship Fund.
