Obituary of Jerry Bieller
Jerry L. Bieller, age 75, of Waverly, Il. died Monday afternoon (May 8, 2017) at Oak Terrace Nursing Center in Springfield, Il.
He was born September 15, 1941 in East St. Louis, Il. son of the late Walter and Violet Baltz Bieller.
He married Helen M. Whalen on December 28, 1966 in Franklin, Il. and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Bieller (Kelley) of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Greg Bieller (Laura) of Pekin, Il.; two grandchildren, Matthew Bieller and Jessica Bieller both of Pekin, Il.; one brother, Gary Bieller of Dupo, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Scott Bieller; and one brother, Larry Bieller.
Jerry was a graduate of Dupo High School in Dupo, Il. and Western Illinois University with a bachelors degree in Education. Jerry taught at Waverly High School for 29 years. He was also a Watkins Products representative. Jerry was on the Waverly Community Development Committee for many years and was a past alderman for the city of Waverly. He was also instrumental in the start of and running of the Waverly Holiday Tournament History Room. Jerry along with his wife were Waverly Honored Citizens during the Waverly Fall Festival in the early 2000’s. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday (May 13, 2017) at the Waverly First Baptist Church in Waverly. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Franklin, Il. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Waverly First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waverly Rescue Squad or Waverly Booster Club both c/o Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.
