Obituary of John Davidsmeyer

            John Paul Davidsmeyer, 56, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born May 7, 1961, in Jacksonville, the son of J. William and Correne Kraemer Davidsmeyer. 

            John is survived by his parents of Jacksonville; two sisters, Diann Davidsmeyer of Columbus, Indiana and Darcy (Ray Morin) Davidsmeyer of Naples, Florida; two nephews, Ryan William (Barbie) Davidsmeyer and Michael Paul (Kelsey Doyle) Davidsmeyer, both of Jacksonville, and his beloved rat terrier, Harvey.  John was preceded in death by one brother, Richard William Davidsmeyer.

            John attended Salem Lutheran School,  graduated from Jacksonville High School, and attended Wartburg College in Iowa.  As a young man John was active in Boy Scout Troop 107 and later assisted with the grounds keeping at the Scout Camp at Lake Jacksonville.  He also worked at Keystone Skiing in Colorado.  In 1985, John joined his family business, The IRC Group, working in a subsidiary in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, before eventually returning to Jacksonville as manager of the trucking division, then becoming Corporate Safety Director.  He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.   John loved hunting, making jokes with friends and family, working in his yard, and riding his ATV through the neighborhood with Harvey.    John will be remembered for his jovial personality.

            A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery.  The family will meet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Boy Scouts of America Troop 107.  Condolences may be left online at
