Obituary of Anna Slight

Anna Marie Vogt Slight, 89 of Griggsville passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday evening August 8, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was born February 11, 1928 in St. Louis the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Schultz Vogt. She attended Hadley Technical High School where she met the man that would become her husband.
She married her high school sweetheart Harold Sylvester Slight September 13, 1947 in St. Louis. The family moved back to Griggsville in 1953. Anna worked as secretary for Griggsville Schools for 23 years. She also worked for Trio, Illini Hospital and Dunham Insurance. She and Harold were instrumental in the formation of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Griggsville, and were active members there until its closure. Anna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield, Griggsville Home Extension, Fireside Campers Club and she made lap quilts for seniors with a ladies group from Liberty.
Surviving are her children Sandra (Jack) Bishop, Fred C. Slight, Sharon Smith, Shelia Slight, Susan (Larry) Collins, Shelby (Pete) Deeder, and Harold (Lori) Slight Jr. Fifteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren her twin sister Rose Hoer of Washington, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband Harold In 2007 sisters Kate Brueckmann, and Margaret Collins, brothers Harry Vogt and Walter Vogt and a granddaughter Melissa Shelton.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am Monday August 14, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday August 13 from 4:30 until 8 pm at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in Griggsville. A rosary service will be held at 4 pm.
