Obituary of John Weder
John William Weder, 79 of Winchester passed away Thursday morning September 21, 2017 at his home. He was born March 8, 1938 at the family home near Winchester, the son of the late Herman Albert and Lucille Snyder Weder.
He married Joyce Elaine Thomas on December 1, 1967 in Winchester and she survives at home. Also surviving are his children Judy (Allen) Birdsell and Joseph (Sandy) Weder all of Winchester. Three grandchildren Derek (Jackie) Price, Nate Price and Jozy Weder, Three great granddaughters Lakyn, Makynlee and Jessa Price.
John was a 1956 graduate of Winchester High School. He served in the US Army from 1961 -1963 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was the co-owner and meat cutter at the Winchester Locker until 1968. He worked briefly at the IGA in Jacksonville and then at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown until it closed in 1987. He worked as a handy man until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Pioneer Lodge 70, Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Winchester. He loved to be outdoors, working in his garden, mowing, fishing and caring for the family farm. He loved to tell stories, especially of his time in the Army.
John was preceded in death by his two sisters, Martha Burris and Dolores Smith and his brother Herman Weder Jr.
Private family services will be held. The Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester is in charge of the arrangements.
