Obituary of Mary Clayton
Mary Elizabeth Clayton, 87, of Mishawaka, IN formerly of Jacksonville and Springfield, IL, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017. She was born on September 24, 1930, in Scottville, IL, the daughter of Kenneth Ward and Ethel Frances Bull Cox, Sr. She married Carl Kennedy Clayton on January 1, 1951, and he survives.
Mary is also survived by two children, Carla Putrich of Granger, IN, and Larry Clayton of Marion, IL; six grandchildren, Emily Anderson (Craig) of Shawnee, KS, Caleb Clayton (Taylor McDermot) of Marion, IL, Lauren Putrich of Grand Rapids, MI, Chase Putrich of Granger, IN, Travis (Becky) Mattingly of Marion, IL, Chris (Robin) Mattingly of Marion, IL; six great grandchildren, Kayeden Anderson, Ivy Lynn Anderson, Killian Clayton, Hunter Mattingly, Brandon Mattingly, and Alexandria Mattingly. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Tuttle; a daughter-in-law, Jana Clayton; a sister, Gladys Angelo; and a brother Kenneth Cox, Jr.
Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield, IL. She enjoyed doing crafts and quilting. More than anything she loved her family.
A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m., Friday, October 6, 2017, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, IL, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in South Jacksonville, IL. Family will meet friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
