Obituary of John Spears
John T. Spears, 72, of Jacksonville passed away early Thursday morning, October 5, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN the son of Otto Monroe and Florence Margaret Layman Spears.
He is survived by 3 sons, Mathew (Nikole) Spears of Fishers, IN, Chris (Angela) Shade of Rocklin, CA and Jeffrey (Gretchen) Kannegiesser of Brunswick, MD; 3 daughters, Jennifer (Brian) White of Speedway, IN, and Jamie (Chad) Giesler and Amber (Matt) Rigor both of Jacksonville; 16 grandchildren, Brendan, Aubrey, Delaney, Josh, Peyton, Vanessa, Angela, Jaycie, Emily, Levi, Suzannah, Gage, Maggie, Skylar, Elizabeth and Kent; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Spears of Tallahassee, FL and Stephen (Flori) Spears of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Charlotte Fox of Daleville, AL and Nancy Baker of Jacksonville, FL.
Mr. Spears served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Community Christian Church in Jacksonville. He enjoyed old cars, playing the guitar and music, especially the Ventures.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Amvets in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the Simmons Cancer Institute. Williamson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
