Obituary of Audrey Stewart

Audrey Jean Stewart, age 85, of Franklin, Il. died peacefully at her residence Saturday (October 7, 2017) surrounded by her family.

She was born March 19, 1932 in Franklin, Il. daughter of the late William Clarence and Bessie Rebecca Bertram Neal.

She married Theodore James “Ted” Stewart on September 29, 1950 in Murrayville, Il. and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1998.

Surviving is one daughter, Julie Jean Luke (Harold “Butch”) of Divernon, Il.; two sons, Daniel James Stewart and Jack Lee Stewart (Tammey) all of Franklin, Il.; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one soon to be; one sister, Lillian Witherbee of Franklin, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Brenda Lou Stewart; two sisters, Rose Morris and Norene Van Deveer; and three brothers, Oral Thomas Neal, Richard Lee Neal, and Elmer Junior Neal.

Audrey was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was secretary/clerk for the Village of Franklin for over 20 years.  She was a founding member of the Prairie Land Heritage Farm Museum, and a member of the Franklin American Legion Post 1079.  She loved to sew.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (October 10, 2017) at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il.  Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Waverly Rescue Squad or to United Cerebral Palsy.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
