Obituary of Michael Knapp
Michael C. “Snapper” Knapp, age 60 of Barrow, died early Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born April 3, 1957 in Springfield, the son of Theodore and Erma Gilleland Knapp.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Janet Coonrod, his mother, a daughter, Kari (Josh) Burton of Roodhouse, a son, Courtney Knapp of Springfield, three step sons, Scott (Sheila) Coonrod of Chatham, Chris (Elly) Coonrod of Greenfield, Bill (Jennifer) Coonrod of Plainville, seventeen grandchildren, a sister, Tedda (Rodney) Allen of Meredosia, three brothers, Richard Knapp of White Hall, Lynn Knapp of Manchester, and Gene Davis of White Hall. He was preceded in death by his father, infant brother, and a grandson, Billy Coonrod.
Mike graduated from North Greene High School. He worked for Hanor Farms for 18 years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and visiting with his friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and enjoying his grandchildren.
Celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church. Private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall is in charge of arrangements.
