Obituary of C. Ketchum

    C. Ray Ketchum, 73, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Jerseyville Manor with his family by his side.

   He was born on July 25, 1944 in Alton, the son of the late Carl and Mary Schell Ketchum.  He attended grade school in Alton and graduated from Jerseyville High School, the Class of 1962.

  He married the former Mary Kay Jennings in Medora, IL on March 13, 1971.

   Ray is survived by his wife, two sons and five grandchildren:  Ryan (Elizabeth) Ketchum as well as their children: Grant, Tori and Brycen of Glen Carbon, and Cary Ketchum (Karen McConnell) as well as their children: Brett Ketchum and Chabra (Bryce) Harter all of Pittsfield.  Also surviving: his father-in-law, Charles Jennings and sister-in-law, Barbara Tallman both of Carlinville; brother-in-law, Chuck Jennings of Greenfield; Ray's many special cousins and spouses and Mary Kay's cousins and spouses who were very much a part of his life.   Ray was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law: Mary Jennings.

    He worked as a transport driver for Ferrell North America and retired in 2012.

     He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carrollton and since he retired was a volunteer for the "Minutemen" at St. John's Church and School.

    A Prayer Service will be held at 8:45 A.M. on Saturday Oct. 14, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Church.  A memorial visitation will follow from 9-11 A.M.  Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M.

    Burial will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery.  Cremation rites have been accorded.
