Obituary of Shirley Boston

            Shirley Mae Boston, 80, of Jacksonville, died Monday, November 13, 2017, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.  She was born February 24, 1937, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clarence and Eva A. Bergin Koebel.  Shirley married Keith Zenge and they were later divorced.  She married Leonard Van Dorn, and he preceded her in death, and she later married James Boston, and he also preceded her in death.

            Shirley is survived by three children, Terri Watts (companion, Rick Long) of Winchester, Steven (Lorraine) Zenge of Auburn, and James (Heidi) Zenge of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Joseph Zenge of Auburn, Brittany Zenge of Winchester, Brandon Zenge of Jacksonville, and Sarah Zenge of Auburn; one sister, Claire J. Slagle of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.  Shirley was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rachel Zenge, her parents, her step-father, Chester O. Jackson, and one sister, Patricia Ann Cope.

            Shirley was employed by John Deere Life Insurance in Jacksonville for many years.  She was a member of the Pilot Club and enjoyed crossword puzzles and dominos, her pet canaries, and making others laugh.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Shirley was known for going all out at Christmas and was known for her reindeer food.  Above all else, Shirley loved her family, especially her grandchildren and attending their activities.  Shirley will forever be admired by her family for her courage and perseverance through her many years of dialysis treatments.

            A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Winchester City Cemetery.  The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.  Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
