Obituary of Donald Lowder

Donald Wayne “Little Wayne” Lowder, age 64, of Modesto, Il. and formerly of Waverly, Il. died Thursday afternoon (Dec. 14, 2017) at his residence.

 

He was born May 23, 1953 in Jacksonville, Il. son of the late Donald Henry “Peanut” and Verda Mae Staton Lowder.

 

He married Betty Baker and she preceded him in death.

 

Surviving is a daughter; five brothers, Richard “Dicky” Lowder of Virden, Il., Terry L. Lowder (Janice) of Waverly, Il., Ronald Dean Lowder of Portland, Or., James Everett Lowder (Sue) of Waverly, Il., Rodrick Allen Lowder (Lou Anne) of Waverly, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Wayne was a graduate of Waverly High School and attended Gem City College in Quincy, Il. learning Watchmaking.  He was a past employee of Panhandle Eastern where he calibrated their equipment and was employed by Dickey John in Auburn, Il.  He enjoyed refinishing furniture and recaining chairs.  He loved music and was a drummer playing in early years in 5 + 1 Band.  When Wayne was young he had polio, and was Poster Child for the March of Dimes.

 

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2017) at Waverly East Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital c/o Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
