Obituary of Earl Boston
Earl E. Boston, 88 of Winchester passed away early Wednesday morning December 27, 2017 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born November 28, 1929 in Winchester the son of the late William R. and Mary Gladys Hanks Boston.
He married Alice G. Hardy and she survives at home. Also surviving are his children Janet Jones of Mt. Sterling, Richard Boston of Bentonville, AR, Robert (Carol) Boston of Booneville, AR, Cheryl Chadwell of Alsey, Gwenn Hardy of Winchester, Donald (Marcia) Hardy of White Hall, and Tom (Liz) Hardy of Winchester, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Preceding him death was his brother Russell Boston, an infant sister and an infant grandson.
Earl was a 1948 graduate of Winchester High School. He worked as a Livestock Inspector for the State of Illinois, he owned the Gamble Store in Winchester, worked at Taylor Garage and Coonrod Funeral Home. He attended the 1st Christian Church in Winchester and was member of the American Legion, volunteered with Prairieland Heritage for 35 years and the Mt Pleasant Steam Show where he helped in the power plant. He loved his garden and traveling with his wife to Arizona every year. He served his country in the US Army as part of the “Big Red 1” stationed in Germany.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday December 31, 2017 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3 until 6 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Scott County Nursing Center or to Prairieland Heritage Museum.
