Obituary of Naomi Stone

Naomi L. Stone, age 79, of Auburn, Il. and formerly of Scottville, Il. died Wednesday morning (January 17, 2018) at Heritage Manor Hospice in Springfield, Il.

She was born May 21, 1938 in Scottville, Il. daughter of the late Robert Roland and Leona Lina Butcher Stone.

Surviving are children, Deborah Abshier (Jack) of Bowling Green, Mo., and Judy Palmer (Gary), Donna Coleman, and Amy Beanblossom all of Auburn, Il.; ten grandchildren, Mandy, Layla, Kendall, Kris, K.C., Cory, Traver, Trista, Donavin, and Devaughn; ten great-grandchildren, Chloe, Keifer, Logan, Brandon, Ryleigh Jo, Avary, Karter, Ethan, Josiah, and Dexter; her sisters, Betty Points of Waverly, Il., Marian Holcolm (Ed) of  Hillsboro, Il., and Ann Brewer (Sam) of Waverly, Il.; brothers, Albert Stone (Beverly) Atwater, Il., and Richard Stone (Marlene) of Sebring, Fl. ; and several nieces and nephews; special mention of Willie Pearl and Lynn Rutherford her assistants in caring for her at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twins in infancy; and a sister Rosalee Stone

Naomi worked for the U.S. Treasury Department for many years as a bookkeeper.  She was also employed by Harmon Foods in Auburn, Il. in their office for many years. She also enjoyed refurbishing houses around Auburn, Il.  She was also owner and operator of bars in Auburn, Il.  Naomi was Girard’s school “head cheerleader” at sporting events and enjoyed going.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (January 27, 2018) at the Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il.  Friends may call an hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at a later date in Panther Creek Cemetery in Scottville, Il.  Memorials may be made to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692 to help with expenses.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
