Obituary of Michael Miller


            Michael W. Miller, 58, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born September 15, 1958, in Jacksonville, the son of John Henry and Carol Frances Kilmartin Miller.

            Mike is survived by his parents of Jacksonville, one sister, Sue Mefford of Jacksonville, four brothers, Daniel Miller of Jacksonville, Mark (Becky) Miller of Auburn, Georgia, and David (Cindy) Miller and Chris Miller, both of Jacksonville, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

            Mike graduated from Jacksonville High School and was currently employed at George Alarm Systems in Springfield.He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force, where he also became a chef.  He served as chef at restaurants in Gulf Shores, Alabama, Paducah, Kentucky, Liberal, Kansas, and Houston, Texas.  Mike enjoyed fishing and sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.  He loved taking care of his family, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.  Mike was of the Catholic faith.

            A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville, with burial at Calvary Cemetery.  The family will meet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Food Bank.  Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
