Obituary of Richard Standley
Richard James “Dick” Standley, 57, of Woodridge, IL passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1960 in Jacksonville the son of Charles Joseph “Joe” and Gloria Bentley Standley. He married Beverly Roberts on May 23, 1986 and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Kyle Standley of Woodridge, IL and Alex Standley of Denver, CO; his mother, Gloria Standley of Jacksonville; 7 siblings, Gail (George) Eck of Alexander, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Teague of Springfield, Fred (Linda) Standley of Winchester, Charles (Bonnie) Standley of Springfield, Kate Evans of Jacksonville, Ed Standley of Jacksonville and Susie Mikovich of Jacksonville; 14 nieces and nephews, Joanna “Betsy” Kastle, J.T. Mikovich, Sam Mikovich, Michael Standley, David Standley, Emily Czarnecki, Claire Evans, Jake Flynn, Luke Flynn, Ashley Brant, Sara Alexander, Liz Standley, Joey Standley and Maureen Woodrum and 15 grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Standley.
Dick graduated from Routt Catholic High School in 1978 and from the Joliet Jr. College Culinary Arts Program in 1986. He was employed as a chef at many restaurants in the Chicagoland area. He loved spending time with his sons and family, cooking for family, music and his dogs.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Calvary Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour Grade School or Routt Catholic High School.
