Obituary of Maude Tatman
Maude Mae Tatman, 94, of Springfield and formerly of Roodhouse passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Virden. She was born October 23, 1923 in Roodhouse the daughter of David and Hattie Mae Brinker Thompson.
She is survived one son, Stephen L. (Pat) Tatman of Springfield and was proud of her two grandchildren, Melinda (Jamie) Daley of Springfield and Michael (Karen) Tatman of Naperville. She also had the great fortune of five great-grandsons, Frankie IV, Nolan and Jack Kulavic and Casey and Conner Tatman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Thompson and Edward Brinker and two sisters, Rose Irene Bushnell and Juanita Manuel.
Maude graduated from Roodhouse High School and was employed at Roodhouse Envelope Co. in Roodhouse for over 35 years until she moved to Springfield. She then worked for and retired from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office for 24 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. And was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 2247 W. Washington St. in Springfield with burial at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. The family will meet friends 9:30-10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. You are invited to dress casually and/or wear denim (Maude always wore blue jeans).
