Obituary of Charles Robinson
Charles William “Bill” Robinson, 74 of Winchester passed away late Tuesday night December 26, 2017 at his home. He was born January 9, 1943 near Winchester the son of the late Leo Vedder and Frances Louise Weder Robinson. He married Patricia Ann Kerns June 6, 1970.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Winchester High School and attended U of I and SIU-C. He worked for 15 years in the License Department for the Secretary of State’s office in Springfield, and then 25 years for Winchester Farm Service (Lincoln Land FS) retiring in 2005. He then worked for Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester until 2014. He was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and was active with the United Methodist Men, serving as President and was in charge of their Burgoo for many years. He served on the ASCS Board, Farm Bureau Board and the Prairie Council on Aging Board. He was member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows where he had served in various positions including Noble Grand.
Bill loved to spend time with his family, outdoors, on the farm or at the cabin and watching his daughters and granddaughters as they participated in various sports. He was a caring and generous man who loved his community, his church and most of all his family. Bill was a man filled with hope and peace even in difficult times as he battled physical debilities.
Surviving is his wife Pat at home, his daughters Lora (JR) Bess of Divernon, and Stacy (Chad) Beeley of Jacksonville, his granddaughters Jordan, Taylor, Riley Bess, and Julia, Rachel Beeley, sisters Beverly Nelson of Jacksonville and Wanda (Robert) Peck of Bella Vista, AR, several nieces and nephews and his loving caregivers Theresa, Becky, Stephanie, Bethany, and Taylor who helped make it possible for him to be at home during his battle with PSP.
He was preceded in death by his brother in law Donald Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday December 30, 2017 at the Winchester United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 5 until 8 pm at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. IOOF Lodge services will be held at 8 pm.
