Obituary of Dorothy White
Dorothy Pauline White, 95, of Woodson passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, early Wednesday morning, January 24, 2018 at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville. She was born September 22, 1922 in Jacksonville the daughter of W. E. “Jack”and Ethel Lewis Butler. She married James M. White on October 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2011.
She is survived by three children, Joyce Westbrook, Gordon (Chris) White and Glenn (Beverly) White all of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Andrew (Kristin) White of Springfield, Wesley (Brittany) White of Jacksonville and Garrett (Erin) White of Pittsfield; five great-grandchildren, Riley, Conner, Hayden, Colten and Gibbson White; sister-in-law, Eleanor White Eskew of San Diego, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Butler Baldwin.
Mrs. White attended school in Woodson and graduated from Jacksonville High School. She had been employed at Elliott State Bank prior to her marriage and later assisted her husband on the family farm. After she raised her family she worked part time for Visiting Nurses. She was a lifelong member of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Woodson and was the oldest living member of the Butler Family. She was a past member of the Woodson American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Morgan County Fair Auxiliary. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and 4H livestock shows. The family would like to thank the staff at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab for the excellent care they gave Dorothy while she was a resident there.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Woodson American Legion or the Morgan County Fair Board.
