Obituary of Robert Clanton

Robert Neil “Bob” Clanton, 72 of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday evening February 10, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born October 9, 1945 in White Hall the son of the late James Ernest and Nina Norine Northcutt Clanton. He married Nancy Sue Anderson June 13, 1964 at the Alsey Baptist Church.

Bob attended Alsey and Winchester schools, graduating in 1963.  He worked for the road district, Anderson-Clayton for 7 years and then 37 years for Nestle in Jacksonville.

Bob loved to fish and duck hunt. He enjoyed mushrooming, and any activity involving his family, especially watching his grandchildren’s sports. He had been very active in local slow-pitch softball leagues for many years.

Surviving is his wife Nancy at home, daughter Penny Clanton of Ft. Worth, TX, son Carey Clanton of Jacksonville, grandchildren Payton McClenning “Cricket”, and Leighton McClenning (friend Destyne Powell), sisters Jeanne (Gary) Buckley of Piedmont, Missouri, Wanda Hardwick of Ft. Worth, TX, brothers Richard Clanton (friend Cindy Varnedoe) of Murrayville, Darrell (Pixie) Clanton of St. Genevieve, MO, sister in law Terry Moore of Winchester, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his sister Claudine Day, his brothers Everett Clanton and Denny Clanton, and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday February 14 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Friends may call after 4 pm Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6 until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Spirit of Faith Church Soup Kitchen.
