Obituary of John Bergschneider

John “Jack” Bergschneider, 81, of Waverly, died Friday, February 16, 2018, at Heritage Manor in Springfield. He was born January 20, 1937, in Jacksonville, the son of Leo and Sara Dodsworth Bergschneider. He married Doris Inabel Lindsey Fanning on September 15, 1972 and she preceded him in death November 6, 2011.

Jack is survived by a son, Brandon (Angie) Bergschneider of Waverly; four grandchildren, Veronica Fanning of Austin, TX, Alexandria (Aaron) Bryant of Jacksonville, Lainey and Leo Bergschneider both of Waverly; three great grandchildren; five brothers, Edward (Bernice) Bergschneider of Franklin, Tom (Helen) Bergschneider of Franklin, Bill (Becky) Bergschneider of Greenfield, Bob (Marilyn) Bergschneider of Franklin, and Dick (Lea) Bergschneider of Franklin; and three sisters; Sister Rachel Bergschneider of Peoria, Mary (Joe) Somerset of Franklin, and JoAnn (Jay) Gardner of Yorktown, VA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Fanning and a son, Ronald Fanning.

Jack was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin. He was a proud Veteran serving in the Air Force from July 1957 until May 1962. He was a retired Farmer, an electrical engineer and worked as a truck driver for the Franklin Elevator. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin, with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The Family will meet friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, where a prayer service will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. Memorials ate suggested to the Auburn Rescue Squad, Waverly Rescue Squad, or the Waverly American Legion Post #262.
