Obituary of Michael Moore
Michael E. Moore, 63, of South Jacksonville, died Saturday, February 17, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1954, in Quincy, the son of Roger E. and Joann Eleanor Moore. Mike married Julie A. Windmiller on November 6, 1976, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Alton, and she survives.
Mike is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Joann (Brandon) Brackett of Jacksonville, one grandson, Domanic Elliott, two bonus grandchildren, Kayla Brackett and Alek Brackett; his beloved grandpup, June, two sisters, Sharon (Mike) Manker of South Jacksonville and Amy (Danny) Williams of North Augusta, South Carolina, his brother-in-law, Joe (Kristen) Windmiller of St. Louis, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven E. Moore, one brother, Jeffrey Moore, and his parents.
Mike was employed at Production Press in Jacksonville for 33 years. He was a longtime member of the Jacksonville Elks and served the lodge for several years as a Little League umpire. He received a special recognition award for his service. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, and taking trips to the casino. Mike dearly loved his family and would do anything for anyone. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, people listened. “A great man is one who leaves others at a loss after he is gone.”
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to South Jacksonville Fire and Rescue or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
