Obituary of James Crow
James Monroe Crow, 89 of Pittsfield and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away Friday March 30, 2018 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield. He was born July 23, 1928 in Jacksonville the son of the later Floyd and Sarah Long Crow. He moved to Chambersburg at the age of 14 and was raised in the home of the late Archie and Jenny Thompson. He graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1947 and entered the US Navy in 1948, where he served one enlistment. He married Maxine Lucille Roate May 10, 1952 at the home of Maxine’s parents near Chambersburg. He was a farmer in the Chambersburg area. He also worked for Nation Starch for 34 years retiring in 1991 as a Supervisor. James was a member of the Chambersburg Christian Church,and the Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed bowling, church functions, and especially family activities.
Surviving is his wife Maxine in Pittsfield, children, James Crow Jr. of Chambersburg, Tim Crow of Liberty and Carol (John) Herring of Hannibal, MO, five grandchildren,Matthew Crow, Christine Schlieker, Tyler Crow, Alaina Weatherford, Franci Sweeten, and ten great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Dick and Robert and 3 sisters, Frances, Loouise, and Marie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday April 4, 2018 at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service.
