Obituary of Barbara Hallock

Barbara Ann Hallock, age 77 of Roodhouse died Friday, March 30, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born October 23, 1940 in Alsey, the daughter of Roy and Sarah Hepworth Colvin.

She is survived by a daughter, Loretta (Russ) Foiles of Hillview, three sons, Donald (companion Netherine Agslada) Hallock of Hillview, David (Linda) Hallock of White Hall, Mark (Christy) Hallock of Roodhouse, eight grandchildren, David Benton, Branden Sutton, Blaise Hallock, Austin Hallock, Mick Hallock, Kyli Foiles, Jacob Foiles, Kaitlyn Foiles, two great grandchildren, Oliver Hallock and Scarlett Story, four sisters, Dorothy Hettinger of Winchester, Betty (Dean) Howard of Glasgow, Ruth Early of Winchester, Daisy (Ron) Teaney of Winchester, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Martha Whiteside, and a brother Tom Colvin.

Barb graduated from Winchester High School and then Gem City Business College in Quincy. She worked at several nursing homes in the area, but then became a farm wife. Barb loved her children and grandchildren. She said “I can’t choose between them, I love them all the same.” She enjoyed gardening, flowers, rose bushes, sewing and making quilts, cooking and baking, but most of all she loved babysitting her grandchildren.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in White Hall.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial to follow in Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roodhouse. Condolences may be left online at
