Obituary of Darrel Stuhmer

Darrel E. “Jake” Stuhmer, age 82, of Waverly, Il. died Monday afternoon (May 7, 2018) at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Il.

He was born October 29, 1935 in Chandlerville, Il. son of the late George and Ethel Sinclair Stuhmer.

He married Mary Sallee on September 1, 1957 in Virginia, Il. and she survives.

Also surviving is one son, Patrick Stuhmer (Judy) of Auburn, Il.; five grandchildren, Zachariah, Brett, Austin, Morgan, and Samuel; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley McCullough (David) of Virginia, Il.; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Houston Stuhmer of Havana, Il.; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Stuhmer; one sister, Betty in infancy; and two brothers, Herschel and Samuel.

Jake was a 1953 graduate of Chandlerville High School and served in the U.S. Army during Korea.  Jake was a 41-year employee of C.I.P.S. and retired in the 1990’s.  He was a member of the Modesto Baptist Church in Modesto, Il. where he served as deacon and taught Sunday school. 

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday (May 11, 2018) at Modesto Baptist Church in Modesto, Il.  Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at the Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il.
