Obituary of Cora Lacey

Cora Lee Casselman Lacey, 89, of Jacksonville passed away May 10, 2018. She was born July 21, 1928 the daughter of Lawrence and Irene Stubblefield Casselman. She married Richard T. Lacey on July 22, 1950 and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2008.

            Surviving are two daughters, Debra (David) Hayes of Alexander and Dina (Tim) Peecher of New Berlin; three grandchildren, Jill (Jacob) Eaves of Shreveport, LA, Matt Hayes of Soccoro, NM and Dana Peecher of New Berlin; two great-grandchildren, Bryce Hamilton and Julia Eaves; two brothers, George (Carolyn) Casselman and James (Kathy) Casselman; and special friends, Georgia, Sherrie and Nancy Cockin.

            Cora Lee graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1946 and worked at the General Telephone office from 1946-1957. She loved and kept many animals. She also loved music, photography and traveling places, including Greece, South America, Australia and Canada. She achieved her Pilots license in 1967. Her other interests were poetry, drawing and painting, driving across country, riding horses, working out and swimming at the YMCA, volunteering and donating to several animal charities.

            Cremation has been accorded. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to PAWS in Jacksonville. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at
