Obituary of Emma Zachary

Emma Jean Zachary, age 85, of Palmyra, IL, formally of Burkesville, KY, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Springfield, IL.

 

She was born in rural Jacksonville, IL, to George F. and Nina L. Luster Fox on October 6, 1932. She married James A. Zachary on December 27, 1953, at Salem United Methodist Church in rural Jacksonville.

 

Mrs. Zachary attended and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1950. She went on to graduate from Hardin Brown Business College in 1953. She worked at Central Laborers Pension and Welfare Fund for 26 years. She also worked in the Jacksonville IGA Deli/Bakery for many years. She enjoyed bird watching, sewing, gardening and spending time with her grand- and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Burkesville, KY.

 

Mrs. Zachary is survived by two children, Bret Zachary of Burkesville and Kimma Ross of Palmyra; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Fox of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, George Fox, James Fox, Robert Fox and Samuel Fox, and one sister at infancy.

 

Memorial donations may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, Memo Line: Liberty Cemetery at Liberty Church Road, Burkesville, KY 42717. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone at Memorial Medical Center and Memorial Hospice at Heritage for the phenomenal care they provided our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister during this time.  Immediate and extended family will meet privately to celebrate her life at a later time.
