Obituary of Roger Reese



Roger W. Reese, age 91, of Griggsville, Il. died Wednesday (June 6, 2018) at his home.

He was born July 21, 1926 in Perry, Il. son of the late Harvey and Mildred Lightle Reese.

He married Octavia Jane Dennis on September 2, 1947 and she preceded him in death on January 10, 1985.  He later married Evelyn Clough in 1991 and she preceded him in death in 2008..

Surviving are his children, Susan Kay Eckmann (Victor F.) of Lebanon, Mo., Louise A. Dutko Kulier (Michael) of Granite City, Il., Bruce R. Reese (Brenda) of Granite City, Il., James H. Reese (Gladys) of Versailles, Il., Mary Clary (Robert) of New London, Mo., and Tina McNally (John) of Heath, Tx.; step-children, Judy Bradshaw (Harvey) and John Clough (Susan) all of Griggsville, Il.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter, Linda Berry; and two brothers, Harvey Reese, Jr. and Richard Reese.

Roger was a graduate of Perry High School and was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the Philippines and later in Korea.  He was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Dairy Technology and later was employed by Prairie Farms Dairy in Mt. Sterling and recently supervisor at Loraine Cheese in Pittsfield retiring when the plant closed.  He was an active member of Perry American Legion Post where he was past Commander. 

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday (June 13, 2018) at Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Il.  Private burial will be in Hume Cemetery near Chambersburg, Il. with military rites conducted by the Perry American Legion.  Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.  Memorials may be made to Perry American Legion Post or to Griggsville United Methodist Church.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at
