Obituary of James Denison
James L. “Jim” Denison, 87 of Pittsfield passed away Monday evening at Griggsville Estates. He was born August 12, 1930 in Milton the son of the late Lyndell and Irene Graham Denison. He married Jocelyn Ann Bickerdike May 4, 1952 in Harrisonville, Arkansas. She preceded him in death January 20, 2017. Also preceding him was their daughter Patricia Denison, and a sister Barbara Lemons.
Jim graduated from Pittsfield High School and then served in two years in the US Army.
He was a feed salesman for over 35 years with King/United Feeds. He also worked for Farmers State Bank in Pittsfield. He was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was also a Shriner; He was also a member of the local American Legion and VFW Posts and helped with the Military Honors Detail. He was a member of the Old Orchard Country Club and thoroughly enjoyed playing golf. He also liked to watch sports and work crossword puzzles.
Surviving is his sons Mike (Chris) Denison of Griggsville, Matt Denison of Jacksonville, four grandchildren, Tiphani (Matt) Gregory of Florence, Jaime (Reginald) Liehr of Perry, Adam Denison of Chicago, Courtney (Eric) Walz of Sycamore; five great grandchildren Isaiah and Isabella Gregory, Lance and Regan Liehr and Jocelyn Walz, two brothers Gordon Denison of Springfield, Missouri, and Terry Denison of Jacksonville.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday June 14, 2018 at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. Memorials can be made to the Pittsfield Unite Methodist Church or to the Griggsville Cemetery.
