Obituary of Glenn Hopper

Glenn Junior Hopper, 80, of Franklin, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Jacksonville.  He was born November 29, 1937, near Athensville, the son of Glenn E. and Edna Mae Duckwiller Hopper.  Glenn married Sarah A. “Sally” Hughes in Jerseyville and they were married for 55 years.  She preceded him in death on May 27, 2012.  Glenn later married Janice J. Miner on June 29, 2013, and she survives in Franklin.

            Glenn is also survived by four children, Stephen D. (Melissa) Hopper of Jacksonville, Deborah J. Kasper of Henderson, Nevada, Sue Ellen (Pat) Hogan of Chicago, and Glenna K. (Jay) Fanning of Henderson, Nevada; four step-children, Debbie (David) Bessell of Franklin, Stacy Edmonds of Springfield, Bobbie Jo (Kyle) Rupp of Vernal, Utah, and Tomi (Jack) Doyle of Provo, Utah; eleven grandchildren, Will, Glenn, Aaron, Shawn, Kristen, Page, Madi, Jesse, Geoff, Chris, and Alex; nine step-grandchildren, Lori, Sara, Lisa, Samantha, Kimmy, Daniel, Jelissa, Alexis, and Jonathan; nine step-great-grandchildren, Jenna, Brady, Vienna, Roman, Ona Mae, Gia, Ava, Lovie, and Kimari; one brother, Lyndell (Kay)Hopper of Godfrey, and three sisters, Margie Early and Juanita Fessler, both of Jerseyville, and Marilyn Hardwick of Jacksonville.  One brother, Richard Hopper, preceded him in death.

            Glenn was a mechanic at Mobil Chemical for 26 years.  He and his wife Sally also owned and operated Glenn’s TV and Appliance in Roodhouse from 1972-1986, during which time Glenn assisted in the formation of the Greene County Volunteer E.M.S. and served as an alderman on the Roodhouse City Council.  Glenn was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Glenn enjoyed woodworking and traveling, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

            A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.  The family will meet friends from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Private committal will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.  Memorials are suggested to the family.  Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
