Obituary of Joanne Sitton

Joanne I. Sitton, age 87 of White Hall, died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at her residence.  She was born January 26, 1931 in White Hall, the daughter of Fred B. and Myrtle May Martin Spencer, Sr.  She married Ellis “Bud” Sitton October 1, 1950 at the White Hall First Baptist Church, and he preceded her in death February 8, 1998. 
    Surviving are three daughters, Gay Pepple of White Hall, Janice Harris of Toccoa, GA, and Carol Armstrong of Aurora, CO , and a son, William Sitton of Skokie. There are ten grandchildren, Allison, Nicole, Bree, Seth, Kara, Jennifer, Christopher, Eric, Andrew, and Ellisha, and ten great grandchildren .  She is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Painter of Arlington, VA.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Spencer, Jr., and six sisters, Jean Cipolla, Wilma Spencer, Gladys Spencer and three in infancy.  
    Joanne was a cafeteria worker for a short time, but spent the majority of her life as a mother and homemaker.  She loved playing volleyball, riding her bicycle, and walking.  She kept very active, helping at church activities for all the churches in town, and was a volunteer for many other organizations.  She had last attended the Carrollton First Baptist Church.  
Friends are invited to her home at 424 W. Carlinville St. in White Hall from 5 to 8 p.m.  Thursday, June 28, 2018, to share memories and visit family.  Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
