Obituary of John Davidsmeyer

John Homer “Jack” Davidsmeyer, 79, of Murrayville, died Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born November 6, 1938, in rural Morgan County, the son of Homer and Mildred Morris Davidsmeyer of Murrayville.  He married Betty Lou Worrall on June 27, 1962, in Roodhouse, and she survives.

Jack is also survived by five children, Rick (Beth) Davidsmeyer of Murrayville, Bob (Risa) Davidsmeyer of Sherman, Diana (Brian) Davidsmeyer-Weinmann of Bethalto, Mike (Beth) Rigor of Murrayville, and Trina (Dave) Tillery of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Chad (Heather) Davidsmeyer of Jacksonville, Christina (Carlos) Antemate of Murrayville, Josh Gill of Naples, Florida, John Robert “J.R.” Davidsmeyer of Sherman, Brenton Kitson, Drew Kitson, and Tyson Davidsmeyer, all of Bethalto, and Amanda (Tim Jones) Herget of Chicago; two step-grandchildren, Mark (Leah) Brock of Rochester and Carrie (Matt) West of Chatham; six great-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Jim (Donna) Davidsmeyer of Pittsfield, and one sister, Mary (Elmer) King of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Jack worked for many years as a carpenter for Siciliano Construction of Springfield through Carpenters Local 904.  Over the years he worked on countless projects throughout Central Illinois, and served as project superintendent of several, including the New Salem Visitor’s Center, Dana Thomas House, and the renovation of the main building on the campus of the Illinois School for the Deaf.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from October of 1956 to October of 1959.  He was an active member of the Jacksonville Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.  Jack was honored and proud to have two namesakes in the family with grandson John Robert “J.R.” Davidsmeyer and great-grandson Jack Aaron Davidsmeyer, but he enjoyed all of his grandchildren immensely!

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Murrayville Cemetery.  The family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Casual dress is encouraged for both the visitation and service.  Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Moose Lodge or the Wounded Warrior Project.  Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
