Obituary of Orval Hayes

Orval E. Hayes, 79, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at his residence.  He was born September 6, 1938, in Jacksonville, the son of Emory and Cordelia Seymour Hayes.  Orval married Marilyn R. Cloninger on November 17, 1963, in Winchester, and she survives.

            Orval is also survived by three children, DeLinda (companion, Gary Byers) Garde, Jeannie (companion, Rex Ford) Hayes, and Michael Hayes, all of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Amanda Garde and Katie (Dustin) Brutlag, both of Jacksonville, and Allison (Kase) LaReau of Kentland, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Abby, Olivia, and Owen, two nephews, Jim Davis of California and Mark Davis of Wisconsin, and his beloved macaw, Hot Dog.  He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Tammy Hayes, and two sisters, Shelba Davis and Margie Lee Hayes.

            Orval graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1956 and entered the Army Reserves in 1962, serving for ten years.  He owned and operated Hayes and Son Plumbing in Jacksonville for many years, first with his father, Emory, and later with his son Michael.  He loved to watch drag racing, NASCAR, and wrestling, and going antiquing with Marilyn.  He also loved spending time with Hot Dog.

            In accordance with his wishes, Orval will be cremated.  His family will host a dinner in his honor at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Hamilton’s at 110 North East in Jacksonville, Family and Friends are invited.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to PAWS.  The Williamson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
