Carole Ann Stringer, 76, of Carrollton died on Thursday July 5, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield surrounded by her family.

Born in Pittsfield on April 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rita (Williams) Martin.  She was married to Bob Stringer.  They later divorced and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1988.

Surviving are her children:  Kenny (wife Jill) Stringer, Rhonda Graner (companion Darren), Chad (wife Amy) Stringer all of Carrollton,  grandchildren: Cory Rimbey (wife Leslie), Ben Stringer, Maddie Stringer, Hayden Stringer, Hannah Stringer, Jacob Graner and Hallie Stringer, 2 great-grandchildren: Lucas and Ella Rimbey, and a sister:  Connie (husband Jim) Smith of Jacksonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 sisters Jean and Donna.

Carole had worked for many years at the Carrollton Dairy Queen and Body Memorial Hospital.   She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends on her back deck.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved harness racing. Carole loved spending time outdoors and tending to her flowers. She was known to many as a very hard worker, a good listener, and a giving person.

As per her wishes, she was cremated.  A memorial visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday July 14, 2018 from 10 a.m. until Noon at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton.   A funeral service will be held following visitation.  Burial will be in Carrollton Cemetery.  As a two time cancer survivor, memorials may be made to Boyd Hospital Gas Card Program.
