Obituary of Elizabeth Costello

Elizabeth “Lily” T. Costello, 98, of White Hall, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born April 21, 1920, in Liverpool England, the daughter of Robert and Martha Warner Marshall. She married Francis Marion Costello, November 25, 1943, in Stockport England, and he preceded her in death May 14, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick L. Costello of Patterson, and John Costello of Granite City; three daughters, Teresa (Phil) Schaub of Jacksonville, Gloria (Bob) Killibrew of East Alton, and Mary Thomas of Winchester; eleven grandchildren, Ray Robinson, James Nicholson, Deborah Killebrew, Barbara Whitesell, Beverly Barnes, Rhonda Thomas, Bradley Costello, Billy Joe Costello, Bob Costello, Mindy Stewart, and Breanna Costello; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Thompson of Liverpool England. She was preceded in death by six siblings.  

 Lily was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in White Hall. She was a WWII English Veteran serving from 1941-1943 as a member of the ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) She was proud of her English heritage and enjoyed a good cup of English tea. More than anything she loved her family especially her grandchildren.  

A funeral mass will be held at 9:30a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at All Saints Catholic Church in White Hall, with burial at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Scott County Nursing Center or All Saints Catholic Church.
