Obituary of Elzora Lomelino

Elzora “Zora” Mae Lomelino of Springfield, Il., died peacefully, at her home, surrounded by family at 10:18 a.m., on Sunday, August 19, 2018.

 

She was born June 26, 1921, in Franklin, Il. to Ira and Minnie Cole Hamm.  She married Mervin Ray Lomelino September 6, 1949 and together they raised a family in Palmyra, Il.  Palmyra was where she spent most of her adult life and a place she always called home even when she moved away.

 

She is survived by two sons; Ronald R (wife Nancy) Lomelino of Roodhouse, Il. and Randy J Lomelino of Palmyra, Il.; one daughter Pamela S. Fisher of Springfield, Il.; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Mervin; her parents Ira and Minnie; all her brothers and sisters; five sons; Troy (wife Linda) L Lomelino of Ceadertown, Ga, Michael D Lomelino of Palmyra, Il., Jack D Lomelino of Roodhouse, Il., and two stillborn sons; a grandson Troy “Lynn” Lomelino Jr; and a great granddaughter Brooklynn Lomelino.

 

Elzora worked for over thirty years at the Illinois Mental Health Facility in Jacksonville, Il., a position she spoke of often with pride.  She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, canning, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday (August 24, 2018) at Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra, Il. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra, Il.  Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.  Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association c/o Stults-Neece Chapel, 349 Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
