Obituary of Richard Pevey

Richard Lee Pevey, 81, of rural Jacksonville, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab.  He was born January 1, 1937, in Lynnville, the son of Albert and Margaret Mason Pevey.  Richard married Mary Humes on September 16, 1956, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, and she survives.

Richard is also survived by three children, April (Jon) Porter, Randy Pevey, and Chad (Rachel) Pevey, all of Jacksonville, five grandchildren, Lance (Crystal) Scott, Ryker (Angie) Scott, Jodi (Scott) Nordwall, Anna Pevey, and Norah Pevey, and four great-grandchildren, Venessa Scott, Logan Scott, Jocelyn Nordwall, and Trenton Nordwall, all of Jacksonville.  In addition, two sisters survive, Norma DeOrnellas of Murrayville and Shirley Hintz of St. Petersburg, Florida.  One granddaughter, Kathryn Pevey, and two brothers, James Pevey and Dean Pevey, preceded him in death.

Rich was a welder for Eli Bridge Company in Jacksonville for many years.  He later worked at West Side Auto Parts as a delivery driver for several years.   Rich loved to be asked to help out and took great pride in helping others with their projects.  He also liked working in his wood shop and working on vehicles.   He was especially proud of the total restoration he did of his 1939 Farm-All tractor, which he had purchased and brought home in a box.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery.  The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
