Obituary of Henry Brooks

            Henry Linn Brooks, age 84 of Manchester, formerly of Carrollton, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing Center.  He was born August 7, 1934 at Carrollton, the son of Norman Henry and Lola Linn Brooks. 

            He is survived by three daughters, Debra L. Bassett of Louisville, KY., Carol A. Payne of South Jacksonville, and Brenda M. Steinacher of Manchester.  There are ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.  Also surviving are five siblings, Robert Brooks of St. Louis, MO, Wayne Brooks of Centralia, Ruth Ann Gilbert of Greenfield, Delbert Brooks of Alton, and Louis Brooks of Myrtle Beach S. Carolina . 

            Henry graduated from Carrollton High School in 1952 and Decatur Barber School in 1956.   He barbered for more than 50 years in Carrollton.  He was a member of the Carrollton Lions Club, and the Stuart Pierson Masonic Lodge # 50 in Carrollton. 

            Henry was a loving, caring individual who would help anyone.  He loved to fish, and hunt mushrooms.  Most of all, Henry loved his family, and his family loved him.  He will be greatly missed.

            At Henry’s request, there be a Celebration of Life service held at the home of his daughter Carol Payne, at 420 Southville Drive in South Jacksonville, welcoming all friends and family on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 2:00 p.m until 3:00 p.m.  Memorial are suggested to the Carrollton Lions Club or Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.
