Obituary of Marion Crain Crum

Marion Joycene Crain Crum, 95, of Roodhouse, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born to Ray E. Crain and Emma Lodema Connelly Crain, January 24, 1923 on Bates Street in Roodhouse, delivered by Dr. Bates. She lived her entire life in Roodhouse. Marion attended both Jefferson and Washington Schools in Roodhouse. She married Otis Oscar Crum from Belltown, IL in St. Louis, MO.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Everett and Albert, and a son, Larry Lee “Berly” Crum Sr.

Surviving are grandchildren, Larry Lee “Tike”  (dec. Carolyn Cox) Crum Jr., Lonnie Lynn (Dawn) Crum, and Lisa Lynnette (Richard) Icide, II., all of Roodhouse; great grandchildren, Logan (Sarah) Crum, Larrisa Crum, Justin Icide, Richard Icide, III, Cassandra (TJ) Hurt and Cody Crum;  great-great grandchildren, Cilee, Landon, James, Dexter, Diem, and Levi; and four step great-great grandchildren.

Marion worked for several years at the White Hall and Roodhouse Co-eds Garment Factory. Then at Alton’s Defense Factory, and Wesco Defense in Jacksonville during the war. Most recently she worked at the Roodhouse Envelope Company and retired after 25 years.  She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Royal Neighbors, and the V.F.W.

She enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals, arts, crafts, gardening, and most of all her beloved family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. Visitaiton will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  at the cemetery. Memorials are suggested  to the Roodhouse Pentecostal Church or the Roodhouse First Baptist Church. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse is in charge of the arrangements.
